Chemist Profile 

The Chemist is a professional capable of understanding, analyzing and characterizing substances through chemical techniques (theoretical and experimental). It synthesizes and purifies compounds through chemical reactions and physicochemical treatments. It has the knowledge, skills, and autonomy to collaborate in the solution of problems in multidisciplinary groups, applying established ethical and quality criteria, as well as promoting scientific progress and sustainable development of society.

The student has a solid and balanced foundation of chemical knowledge and practical skills.

• Applies his theoretical and practical chemical knowledge in solving problems in the industrial, economic, environmental, and social contexts.
• Has capabilities to analyze, characterize, synthesize, and innovate chemical products, at laboratory and pilot plant level.
• Establishes and monitors quality control procedures from raw material to finished product, in processes involving chemical transformations.
• Has fundamental knowledge about the chemical processes that operate in living beings.
• Develops skills needed to contribute to the processes used to prevent, detect, and combat air, water, and soil pollution.
• Possesses sufficient knowledge and skills to be able to continue their studies in specialized areas of Chemistry or multidisciplinary areas.
• Has observational capacity, analytical, orderly, and creative mind, which allows design, install and direct chemical analysis laboratories.
• Acquires a high sense of responsibility, ethics, and honesty to practice the profession independently through advice, arbitration, and expertise.
• Is qualified to be inserted in interdisciplinary, scientific, and academic research groups.
• Trains, coach, and guides the staff under their responsibility.
• Develops quality control, management, and audit tasks in companies.
• Participate in the development of quality standards and specifications for raw materials and exported and imported products.
